About the project
SPACE Lab addresses STEM underachievement among European students by using space as a motivating theme for primary school learners. The source connects STEM skills to Europe's sustainable recovery, future careers and the need for student-centred educational methods. The public record connects this work to Primary school learners aged 6-14, Primary school teachers and educators and Girls and learners with fewer opportunities, where STEM / STEAM, Digital learning and Entrepreneurship need to become understandable, motivating and practical for real learning settings.
The project targets teachers and educators in primary schools as well as learners aged 6 to 14, with special attention to girls and young people with fewer opportunities. Its approach uses space themes, role models, pop-up laboratories and game-based learning. The activity record covers Map key competencies for emerging space careers, Run blended teacher trainings and Pilot SPACE Lab pop-up laboratories and Mission to Mars game. The project developed outputs such as Country-based competence reports, Report on gaming activities and STEAM careers and Competence chart for emerging/future space careers, with results presented here only where they are supported by the local source record.
