About the project
ECO-STEAM4BASICS is an Erasmus+ Forward-Looking Project proposal focused on strengthening basic skills for children aged 3 to 12 through outdoor STEAM education. The source identifies low proficiency in literacy, numeracy, digital literacy and problem-solving as a key European challenge, especially for disadvantaged learners. The public record connects this work to Children aged 3-12 in early childhood and primary education, Early childhood and primary school teachers and educators and Disadvantaged learners and vulnerable demographic groups, where STEM / STEAM, Digital learning and Sustainability need to become understandable, motivating and practical for real learning settings.
The project combines inclusive outdoor education with STEAM subjects and proposes a replicable framework that connects green skills, STEAM competencies and inclusive pedagogy in early childhood and primary education. Teachers, children, families and policymakers are expected to co-create, pilot and refine the project resources locally and transnationally. The activity record covers Develop and validate an Outdoor STEAM Pedagogical Framework, Deliver professional development, mentoring and blended learning for educators and Pilot outdoor STEAM resources across partner countries. The project is developing outputs such as Validated Outdoor STEAM Pedagogical Framework, Professional development for 120+ educators and Targeted improvement in students' core abilities, including vulnerable groups, with results presented here only where they are supported by the local source record.
Objectives
- Enhance basic skills including literacy, numeracy, digital literacy and problem-solving through outdoor STEAM.
- Create and pilot a transferable Outdoor STEAM Pedagogical Framework.
- Develop educators' skills for inclusive outdoor STEAM learning.
- Engage families, communities and policymakers in co-creative Living Labs.
